Hain Celestial completes strategic acquisition in the UK
MELVILLE, N.Y. – The Hain Celestial Group, a natural and organic products company, announced Monday the closing of the acquisition of Premier Food’s portfolio of packaged grocery brands and its Histon manufacturing based in Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom.
"This acquisition furthers our goal to expand in the United Kingdom, and positions the newly expanded Hain Daniels business in the top 40 of all food and beverage suppliers in the U.K.," said Irwin Simon, founder, president and CEO of Hain Celestial.
The acquisition is expected to be accretive to Hain Celestial’s earnings beginning in the second quarter of fiscal year 2013. The company expects that net sales during the eight month period from closing to June 30, 2013 will approximate $180 million, with accretion in earnings per diluted share during that period approximating $0.25 before acquisition-related charges.
Premier Food, which includes such brands as Hartley’s, Gale’s and Robertson’s, generated more than $250 million in sales in its last fiscal year, of which approximately 60% were branded products. The acquisition will become part of the Hain Daniels Group, a portfolio wholly owned by Hain Celestial that includes such food brands as New Covent Garden Soup Co., Johnson’s Juice Co. and Lovetub.

Kashi introduces new nutritious, soft-baked cookie flavor
LA JOLLA, Calif. – Kashi, a natural food and lifestyle company, announced Monday the national launch of its new Chocolate Almond Butter Cookies.
The indulgent yet nutritious snack combines rich cocoa and creamy almond butter with dark chocolate chips, crunchy almonds and Kashi’s signature seven whole grains to create a soft-baked, natural cookie.

The cookies are now available at grocers and natural food retailers nationwide for a suggested retail price of $3.29.
Sabra Dipping introduces Asian cuisine-inspired hummus
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – Sabra Dipping Co., the country’s leading hummus manufacturer, has introduced a new flavor of its Garden Variety Hummus — Asian Fusion.
Inspired by Asian cuisine, the new flavor of hummus incorporates the flavors of ginger and sesame, and is topped with crunchy carrots and peppers.
"Asian fusion was inspired by the ingredients of our classic hummus recipe — which includes tahini, made from sesame seeds," said Greg Greene, senior manager at Sabra. "We thought, what flavors compliment sesame? Ginger and green veggies, of course. And so Asian Fusion was born."
The Asian Fusion hummus will be available this month in stores nationwide, joining the Tuscan Herb and Southwest flavors of Garden Variety hummus that were introduced earlier in 2012. Sabra offers nearly 20 hummus flavors, all of which are gluten-free and certified kosher.
