GNC, Mark Wahlberg debut new sports, active nutrition product line

PITTSBURGH — A new line of performance nutrition products developed by leading GNC scientists and wellness experts in partnership with actor Mark Wahlberg has made its debut.

Marked, which consists of seven sports and active nutrition products, provides the ultimate performance nutrition for anyone who wants to achieve their health and fitness goals, GNC said. Wahlberg will serve as the leading brand ambassador and will drive the marketing approach for the Marked product line, which will be sold at GNC stores nationwide.

The lineup includes:

  • Maximum Nutrition daily pack: Daily multivitamin pack features four compounds to help support optimal body health;

  • Blast and Burn pack: Four-part muscle-sculpting, metabolism-boosting program helps achieve desired physique;

  • Pre-Workout Igniter: Formula delivers fast-absorbing muscle fuel and energy for a better workout;

  • 100% Whey Protein Complex: An ideal foundation for optimal athletic performance; and

GNC is doing great by introducing this nutritious product line with Mark Wahlberg. The pre-workout Igniter and Whey protein product would be great news for athletes. Our body does require such in order to function properly and this ultimate Performance product delivers just what is required for Sportsperson.

Campbell’s completes Bolthouse Farms acquisition

CAMDEN, N.J. — Campbell’s has completed the acquisition of Bolthouse Farms from a fund managed by private equity firm Madison Dearborn Partners for $1.55 billion in cash.

The company said it will operate Bolthouse as a separate business unit. Members of Bolthouse Farms’ senior management team will continue to lead the business, with Bolthhouse Farms president Jeff Dunn reporting directly to Campbell’s president and CEO Denise Morrison. The acquisition was first announced in early July.

"We have acquired a terrific business that is a good strategic fit with Campbell’s existing portfolio and growth strategies," Morrison said. "Bolthouse Farms has exceptional employees and fantastic products. This gives Campbell one of the leading positions in both the fast-growing packaged fresh food market and in healthy beverages and provides us with an opportunity to expand into adjacent segments that leverage exciting consumer trends."

Food Lion helps customers support local schools

SALISBURY, N.C. — Food Lion customers can support their favorite schools when they participate in the MVP Classroom Rewards program.

When customers shop with their MVP cards, a portion of their grocery bills spent only on qualified store-brand products is automatically credited to the shoppers’ local school of choice. Donations up to $2,500 will be distributed three times per year to schools in January, May and September.

Qualified brands include my essentials, Healthy Accents, Home 360, Home 360 Baby, Home 360 Pet, Nature’s Place, Taste of Inspirations and Butcher’s Brand products.

"Food Lion is committed to supporting the local communities that we serve," said Maria Quant-Young, Food Lion community relations supervisor. "Last year, we donated more than $820,000 to schools through the Classroom Rewards program. We look forward to surpassing this amount during the 2012 to 2013 school year."

To enroll, customers may visit FoodLion.com to link their MVP cards to their favorite schools.
