Giant-Carlisle to open new Levittown, Pa., retail clinic

BY Alaric DeArment

LEVITTOWN, Pa. — Giant Food Stores will stage the grand opening of a new in-store health clinic at one of its stores Tuesday, the Ahold USA banner said Friday.

Giant, based in Carlisle, Pa., is partnering with Aria Health FastCare on the clinic, providing the space while Aria provides the staff. The clinic will be the fourth. Lancaster, Pa., General Hospital is also partnering with Giant to operate another clinic.

The clinic will provide treatments for flu, sore throat, allergies, ear infections and sports physicals. A spokesman for the supermarket chain told DSN that Giant was looking into other opportunities and saw the Levittown opening as a "nice kickoff" for what could eventually be a new round of clinics, depending on the success of the ones opened so far.

"We are certainly looking at this as a way to bring convenience to our customers, and we also look at it as a partnership with Aria to basically expand our health and wellness resources to the community," said spokesman Chris Brand.

Certified Specialty Pharmacy testing due date arrives

BY Alaric DeArment

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The Specialty Pharmacy Certification Board is requesting that applicants for its credentialing program for specialty pharmacists send in their applications by Sept. 15, the group said Friday.

The SPCB said the due date applies to the first round of Certified Specialty Pharmacy tests, which will be administered in October, and pharmacists can apply online for the test.

"We urge all specialty pharmacists interested in elevating their careers and distinguishing themselves from their peers to consider taking advantage of this unique credentialing opportunity this October," SPCB executive director Gary Cohen said. "CSP represents the only industry-wide opportunity for specialty pharmacists to demonstrate their expertise and skill level to current and prospective employers. Because of the increasing demand for specialty pharmacy by the medical community and its patients, this professional development opportunity will become an important benchmark for those within the specialty pharmacy sector moving forward."

Coty expands fragrance portfolio with new Halle Berry Exotic Jasmine

BY Antoinette Alexander

NEW YORK — Coty Inc. has introduced the new Halle Berry Exotic Jasmine fragrance.

According to the company, the fragrance has a backdrop of wood notes and skin musks that embraces the star note — Jasmine — in its purest form. Top notes of fresh violet leaf, bright neroli and airy cyclamen lead to blossoming jasmine sambac, plumeria blossom and fluid hedione. The fragrance dries down to a warm base of white cedar, soft vetiver and skin musk that lingers on the skin.

"I created a scent that combines two particular intriguing facets of Jasmine that most appeal to me," stated David Apel, Symrise perfurmer who developed the scent. "First, the intoxicating scent of Jasmine in the air, both opulent and transparent at once. Then, the seductive effect of Jasmine on skin, transporting the wearer to a mystical, sensual place." This duality perfectly captures Halle’s own fascinating combination of classic beauty and smoldering allure.

The Halle Berry Exotic Jasmine packaging visually captures the light, feminine floralcy of the fragrance. The pink juice shines through a chic bottle embossed with a jasmine floral pattern. The signature HB monogram discreetly embossed on the top of the bottle serves as a subtle nod to the fragrance’s iconic creator. It is housed in a subtle jasmine-print package.

The new fragrance is available worldwide now.
