Freschetta adds sea salt, olive oil to sauce used in frozen pizzas

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. — A frozen pizza brand has reformulated the sauce used in its Brick Oven pizza varieties.

Freschetta said the sauce used on its pizzas now feature sea salt and olive oil. In the brand’s Brick Oven line, the five Italian cheese, pepperoni and Italian style cheese, zesty Italian style supreme, spinach and mushroom, and three meat medley varieties now feature sea salt and olive oil. The sea salt and olive oil sauce will be incorporated into the Naturally Rising line of Freschetta pizzas later this year, the company noted.

"Through the Freschetta brand we continue to make ongoing strides to improve upon our pizzas by offering the most flavorful, highest-quality ingredients in the frozen pizza category," Freschetta senior brand manager Stacy Bergmann said. "We have taken note of how consumers are continuing to seek out better, more flavorful ingredients like sea salt and olive oil, and are excited to have added these fresh-tasting ingredients into our pizza sauce."

The Greek Gods launches recipe, video contest

MELVILLE, N.Y. — Hain Celestial is encouraging consumers to create a two-minute video showcasing the company’s Greek yogurt brand.

The Greek Gods brand and its spokesman, marathoner Dean Karnazes, are challenging consumers to part of a pre- or post-workout snack and then highlight the health benefits using footage of their workout routine or athletic challenges. The first place winner will receive a check for $2,500, while second place will receive a check for $1,000 and third place will receive a check of $500. The first place winner also will have their video featured on The Greek Gods brand Greek-Style Yogurt website, blog and Facebook page, where second place will receive an honorable mention. All three will receive a signed copy of Dean Karnazes’s book "Run! 26.2 Stories of Blisters and Bliss" and and The Greek Gods brand Greek-style yogurt coupons with a value of up to $100.

Gosling’s brings Dark ‘n Stormy to the United States

BOSTON — A Bermuda-based beverage company is bringing its latest concoction to the United States.

Gosling’s Rum of Bermuda announced that its new ready-to-drink cocktail, Dark ‘n Stormy, blends together Gosling’s Black Seal rum and Gosling’s Stormy ginger beer. The beverage is packaged in a 8.4-oz./250-ml can and touts 9% alcohol by volume.

"It’s the perfect addition to our family of products," Gosling’s president and CEO Malcolm Gosling said. "This is the perfect Dark ‘n Stormy delivered in a slender can with compelling graphics: making it appealing to the younger, trendsetting consumer. Additionally, the ready-to-drink Dark ‘n Stormy is also a convenient package for people on the go."

The new drink currently is available in four-packs at select retailers nationwide.
