Forbes Connection releases updated ‘Insider’s Guide’ to industry

NEW YORK — The Forbes Connection has released its newly updated "Insider’s Guide to Retail Success 2012-13."

The comprehensive, 100-page report is organized by front-end categories, including, OTC/health, personal care/beauty, convenience foods/beverages and general merchandise. Lilly Diabetes launches mobile app to support Type 1 diabetes patients

INDIANPOLIS — Lilly Diabetes announced that it has launched a new mobile application designed for caregivers and healthcare providers who support people with Type 1 diabetes.

The Lilly Glucagon mobile app is an interactive tool designed to teach caregivers how to use severe hypoglycemia treatment Glucagon (1-mg) for injection through simulated practice, thus helping caregivers better understand Glucagon’s role in diabetes management. The Lilly Glucagon mobile app includes:

  • Information about severe hypoglycemia and Glucagon;

  • Simulated practice demonstrating how to prepare and inject Glucagon;

  • Visual and audio emergency instructions;

  • Tools to keep track of kit locations and alerts for expiration dates; and

  • Important safety information.

Supervalu serves up Java Delight in ‘UnCup’ size

MINNEAPOLIS — Supervalu has launched a single-serve size of its premium coffee product.

New Java Delight single-serve UnCup, which will be available in all of Supervalu’s traditional retail banners — including Acme, Albertsons, Cub Foods, Farm Fresh, Hornbacher’s, Jewel-Osco, Shaw’s, Star Market, Shop ‘n Save and Shoppers — as well as independent stores that are supplied by Supervalu’s wholesale division. Currently, the coffee will be available in six flavors and additional flavors currently are in development, the company said. The UnCup pod can be used with leading single-serve coffee makers, including Keurig brewing systems.

"The UnCup pod provides our customers with a premium single serve coffee at an affordable price," Supervalu VP private brands Sam Mayberry said. "It was also important for us to develop a product that is more environmentally friendly and our UnCup single serve pod uses 30% less material by weight than the leading national brand pod. Protecting the environment is very important to Supervalu and we continue to focus on producing as little waste as possible when launching new products and packaging."
