Evol Foods markets products through Target
BOULDER, Colo. — Evol Foods is marketing its line of natural and organic frozen meals and snacks through Target stores around the country, the company said Tuesday.
The Boulder, Colo.-based packaged-food maker said it would promote the products by offering discounts, which started Sunday and will run through June 15, allowing customers to purchase two frozen entree bowls for $7 and two frozen burritos for $4.
"Our partnership with Target marks an exciting time for Evol Foods as we expand and grow," COO Phil Anson said. "We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to share our love of food with the Target community and provide shoppers with real food that is not only all-natural and healthy, but convenient and, perhaps most important, delicious."
Morning sickness pill launched
ROSEMONT, Pa. — Drug maker Duchesnay USA has launched a new treatment for morning sickness, the company said Tuesday.
The drug maker, which focuses on products for pregnant women, announced the launch of Diclegis (doxylamine succinate 10 mg; pyridoxine hydrochloride [vitamin B6] 10 mg) for morning sickness, known medically as nausea and vomiting of pregnancy, or NVP. According to research, 70-85% of pregnant women experience morning sickness, which despite its name can last throughout the day. The drug received Food and Drug Administration approval last month.
"We believe Diclegis will become an important treatment for healthcare professionals caring for pregnant women with nausea and vomiting of pregnancy," Duchesnay USA CEO Gilbert Godin said. "The product’s safety profile and its proven clinical effectiveness make it a convenient and innovative treatment for women who are seeking effective NVP symptom relief."
Ghirardelli Chocolate introduces two new filled chocolate bars
SAN FRANCISCO — The Ghirardelli Chocolate Company announced today the addition of Mint Cookie and Toffee Crunch, two new varieties to its line of filled chocolate flavors.
The company also announced a rebranding effort with new smaller portion-control squares and packaging to help keep the candy crumb-free and fresh.
"We are thrilled to add two new flavors to our growing line of filled bars," said Jinny Lam, director of marketing for Ghirardelli. "The line delivers the perfect harmony of intense Ghirardelli chocolate with generous, luscious fillings of caramel, mint, raspberry, truffle and toffee bars. With the new innovative packaging and two new flavors, Ghirardelli filled bars allow for a one-piece craving or reward moment and the rest can be saved for later. It’s that simple, and you never have to worry about feeling guilty again."
Mint Cookie and Toffee Crunch join the existing lineup of filled chocolate candies: Dark Chocolate and Sea Salt Caramel, Milk Chocolate with Caramel, Dark Chocolate with Raspberry and Dark Chocolate with Caramel.
All the chocolates have been redesigned so that the candy squares break cleanly into smaller segments, letting consumers determine their portion size.
The new Ghirardelli filled bars will be available in eight-square bars that retail around $2.79 and will go on sale at mass, grocery and specialty retailers nationwide beginning September 2013.
For those who live in the San Francisco area, the new Walgreens flagship store, which opened in early May, features a replica Ghirardelli Square where the chocolate company first began in 1852.
