Energizer appoints new general counsel amid retirement of Gayle Stratmann
ST. LOUIS — Energizer announced that its VP and general counsel will retire.
The company said Gayle Stratmann, who was named VP and general counsel in March 2003, will leave her post in the first half of 2012.
"Gayle has done an outstanding job as our general counsel," Energizer CEO Ward Klein said. "Her wisdom, deep understanding of the business and strategic counsel has served management and the shareholders well. We wish Gayle the very best in her retirement."
Succeeding Stratmann is Mark LaVigne, who was elected by Energizer’s board of directors this week to serve as general counsel upon Stratmann’s retirement. LaVigne joined the company last year and has served as secretary and assistant general counsel.

Free shipping a new incentive for Target loyalty program
MINNEAPOLIS — Target shoppers have a new incentive for joining the retailer’s REDcard Rewards loyalty program: free shipping on Target.com.
What’s more, Target debit cards now can be used on Target.com, the company said.
“REDcard free shipping provides great value for our guests today and every day and it’s easy to understand — no minimum purchase requirement, no membership fee and available nationwide,” Target EVP merchandising Kathee Tesija said. “With the holiday season right around the corner, this new benefit makes it even more convenient for our guests to shop Target for great gifts and enjoy our great prices.”
Target’s REDcard Rewards loyalty program applies to the Target REDcards, including the Target credit card, Target Visa credit card and Target debit card.
Time will tell if the offer of free shipping may be enough to undo some of the damage caused by Target.com’s relaunch, which was slammed by critics.
