Emmi-Tech develops new ‘Nature’ toothpaste

LAS VEGAS — Emmi-Tech, the distributor of the Emmi-dent Ultrasound toothbrush, has unveiled a new gluten-free, fluoride-free and paraben-free toothpaste called Nature.

According to the company, the new Nature toothpaste creates nano-bubbles that are imploded by the ultrasound waves of the toothbrush to remove bacteria, plaque, tartar, small food scraps and stains.

The solution is ideal for people with sensitive teeth or gums, especially those having periodontal or gingival diseases. Patients who have had surgery and implants also can use it soon after surgery, cleaning their teeth and mouth after surgery without pain, the company stated.

Emmi-dent Nature Ultrasound Toothpaste is available at $7.99; others flavors are available at $5.99. The Emmi-dent 6 Ultrasound Toothbrush is available online at a suggested retail price of $189.

Report: Former Ulta CEO takes helm at Beauty Brands

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Former Ulta Beauty CEO Lyn Kirby is reportedly part of a group that acquired Beauty Brands, a cosmetics chain based in Kansas City, Mo.

According to a Crain’s Chicago Business article, Kirby, along with a leveraged buyout firm in California, snapped up the majority stake from advertising executive and entrepreneur Robert Bernstein.

Bernstein, who started Beauty Brands 19 years ago, told Crain’s Chicago Business that he couldn’t name the private equity buyer or discuss terms of the deal.

Kirby, who stepped down as CEO of Ulta Beauty in 2010, will serve as CEO of Beauty Brands, the article states.

Beauty Brands was founded in 1995 and today operates more than 50 locations. Each of the 5,000- to 9,000-sq.-ft. locations offers a full beauty experience, including a full-service salon and spa, as well as a superstore featuring salon exclusive products.

Actress Kelly Rutherford to be face of Peter Thomas Roth

NEW YORK — Skin care brand Peter Thomas Roth has tapped actress Kelly Rutherford to be a global spokesmodel for the brand.

Rutherford’s appointment as spokesmodel marks the first celebrity endorsement for the brand. In her role,  Rutherford will appear in a year-long print ad campaign, kicking off the back cover in the February issue of Good Housekeeping.

"Kelly is a perfect fit because she’s like so many Peter Thomas Roth customers: an active, creative professional and mother of two with great style and an eye for perfection," stated Peter Thomas Roth, the namesake and founder of the skin care and clinical cosmetics brand. "Our customers have come to know me as the face of our brand, but since most of our national ads have a female model in them, bringing Kelly on in the ads is a beautiful and glamorous way to spice things up and allows us to be even more aspirational."

Rutherford is best-known to television audiences as Lily van der Woodsen on the show "Gossip Girl." She is also known for her former roles in television shows "Melrose Place," "Homefront" and "E-Ring."
