Derek Jeter named newest Gillette Champions ambassador

NEW YORK Procter & Gamble’s Gillette brand has tapped athlete Derek Jeter to be the newest Gillette Champions ambassador.

Jeter will be integrated into Gillette brand programs in North America and will be leveraged through multi-faceted marketing initiatives, including print and broadcast advertising, consumer promotions, point of sale materials, online support and public relations in support of Gillette’s shaving products.

Globally, the Gillette Champions program features sport icons Tiger Woods, Roger Federer and Thierry Henry.

“He was chosen not only for his outstanding sporting performances, but also for his performance off the field, in his charitable actions and his reputation as an icon of true sporting values,” stated Chip Bergh, P&G group president of global personal care. “That is what the Gillette Champions is all about. Men, women and children here in North America look up to athletes who raise their level of play and bring the game to a new level, who set the standard in sports and style.”

New York Yankees captain Jeter has been the starting shortstop for the Bronx Bombers since beginning his career in 1996. He is an eight time MLB All-Star and has won the American League Rookie of the Year Award (1996), two Silver Slugger Awards and three Gold Glove Awards. He also has been crowned a World Series Champion four times. He holds Major League Baseball records for career postseason hits, singles, at-bats and runs scored.

In 1996, Jeter established Turn 2 Foundation to create and support signature programs and activities to motive young people to turn away from drugs and alcohol and “turn 2” healthy lifestyles.

Milani gears up to launch 2009 product lines

LOS ANGELES Milani Cosmetics is gearing up for 2009 with a string of launches for lips, face and eyes.

For lips is the new Pretty Pair lipstick and lip gloss combo pack. The matched lipstick and lip gloss are packaged in a compact with a slide-out mirror for beauty mavens on the go.

Also for lips is the new Buzz Worthy lip gloss, which is infused with such ingredients as honey and pomegranate. This new collection is replacing the Glossy Tube lip gloss.

There’s also the new Lip Mixer. The lip gloss has three parts that, when applied to lips, adds dramatic color. The color, shine and shimmer lip gloss has reflective pearls, high shine polymers and conditioning color.

For face is the new Milani Minerals Veil Foundation in an airless pump format.

For eyes, Milani is launched a limited edition collection of its Runway Eyes eyeshadows that is expected to hit shelves around November or December.

Bibb signed as latest Revlon brand ambassador

NEW YORK Revlon has signed rising star Leslie Bibb as its newest brand ambassador, joining Elaine Irwin-Mellencamp and Marina Theiss who currently represent the Almay brand worldwide.

Bibb will be the face of new and existing cosmetics collections and will appear in global multi-media campaigns that include television, print, in-store and Internet placements.

“One of the entertainment industry’s brightest young stars, Leslie will bring her classic beauty, ease and accessibility to a variety of different campaigns,” stated David Kennedy, president and chief executive officer of Revlon. “Her vivacious spirit is a perfect fit for the brand.”

Bibb was discovered in 1990 on the “Oprah Winfrey Show” during a nationwide modeling search with the Elite Modeling Agency. After spending subsequent years modeling around the world, she began her acting career and has been featured in such television shows as ER and Popular. Her film roles include “Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby” and, more recently, this summer’s “Iron Man.” Her next film will be “Confessions of a Shopaholic.”
