CVS Caremark to shorten length of customer receipts

WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS Caremark plans to shorten the length of in-store receipts members of its ExtraCare loyalty program receive by about 25%. In a recent Facebook posting, CVS announced that in response to customer complaints it had found a way to shorten the length of receipts without reducing the amount of ExtraCare rewards and savings offered on them.

In addition, next year CVS will allow ExtraCare members to receive all rewards and savings directly to their card. Currently only select offers can be stored paperlessly on ExtraCare cards.

According to various reports, CVS’ effort to shorten its receipts comes in response to a viral phenomenon of people posting photos of themselves holding ExtraCare Receipts that are several feet long, along with sarcastic comments, on such social media networks as Twitter. In its Facebook posting, CVS made indirect reference to these photos.

Reports: Pharmacist receives distinguished service award from primary care association

NEW YORK — The Michigan Primary Care Association has given pharmacy manager Nancy Bauer an award for distinguished service, according to published reports.

According to Mlive, the MPCA Distinguished Service Award recognizes dedication, commitment and outstanding service on behalf of Michigan Health Center patients. Bauer is pharmacy manager at the Center for Family Health.

The Center for Family Health is one of the state’s 35 health center organizations operating more than 220 sites across the state and serving more than 600,000 patients, according to Mlive.

Harris Teeter pilots a mobile wallet solution as part of its online shopping service

WELLESLEY, Mass. — Paydiant, provider of a cloud-based mobile wallet, cardless ATM access and offer redemption platform, on Tuesday announced that Harris Teeter will deploy a pilot of Paydiant’s white label mobile wallet as part of their Express Lane online shopping service in Matthews, N.C. beginning this month.  

“Harris Teeter is an innovative, service-oriented retailer that clearly strives to build and maintain loyalty among its customers in everything it does,” stated Chris Gardner, co-founder of Paydiant. “Paydiant’s white-label mobile wallet platform is as much about enhancing loyalty as it is about enabling mobile payments. That is where much of the value lies, and Harris Teeter is taking full advantage of those capabilities.”

The initial deployment will allow Harris Teeter Express Lane customers to use the Harris Teeter mobile wallet called “HT Express Pay” to pay for groceries ordered online. Payment will occur from within a customer’s vehicle at Express Lane curbside pick-up locations. Once the Harris Teeter mobile wallet app is downloaded to the customer’s iPhone or Android smartphone and payment cards are linked to the wallet, the customer will simply scan a QR code presented to them on a Verifone handheld mobile point of sale device. From there, the customer uses the mobile wallet to choose which of their major credit cards to use to complete the transaction, taps the “pay” button, and then a digital receipt is automatically sent to the customer’s mobile device.

Later this year, in an industry first for a large retailer, Harris Teeter also will accept other Paydiant-powered mobile wallets from banks and card-issuers in the HT Express Lane. Upon the successful pilot and in subsequent phases of the deployment, the Paydiant mobile wallet platform will be incorporated into Harris Teeter’s existing consumer-facing mobile application, ht mobile.
