CVS Caremark announces PBM succession plan

WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS Caremark outlined succession plans for its pharmacy benefit management business as EVP and COO Jon Roberts will assume the role of president of the PBM business, effective Sept. 1.

During the company’s analyst meeting in December 2011, Per Lofberg, PBM president, announced his intention to extend his employment agreement with CVS Caremark through December 2013, as previously reported by Drug Store News. On Friday, the company announced that Roberts would assume the role of president of the PBM business in September. He will continue to report to Lofberg. Lofberg will continue to report to Larry Merlo, President and CEO of CVS Caremark.

In his new role as president of Caremark Pharmacy Services, Roberts will have day-to-day oversight for the PBM business including sales and account management and operations. Effective Sept. 1, 2012, Lofberg will focus on driving PBM strategy, new business development and client relationship management and retention by serving as the chairman of the PBM.

Roberts, a pharmacist by training, has more than 30 years of pharmacy healthcare experience, including 21 years with CVS Caremark. He has served in the role of EVP and COO for Caremark Pharmacy Services since 2010. Prior to that, he led pharmaceutical purchasing, pricing and network relations. While serving as the company’s CIO, Roberts spearheaded RxConnect, which significantly enhanced retail pharmacy performance. He spent more than 14 years in the company’s retail business and held a variety of senior roles including serving as the SVP retail operations.

Greased Lightning adds multipurpose cleaner to portfolio, updates packaging for all products

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. — Greased Lightning has added a multipurpose cleaner to its lineup of household cleaning products.

The mulitpurpose cleaner, the company said, delivers the same cleaning power as the brand’s flagship Super Strength product, known for its degreasing capabilities, but comes in a fresh spring rain scent.

In line with the launch, Greased Lightning also is debuting new packaging for its full portfolio of products. The revamped label on the multipurpose and Super Strength products focuses on product use and versatility, depicting iconography that easily showcases areas in and around the home Greased Lighting can tackle, the company noted.

Greased Lightning multipurpose cleaner hits store shelves this month.

DieHard extends line to include alkaline batteries

HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. — An auto brand has unveiled a new line of batteries designed to power household devices.

DieHard has launched its full line of alkaline batteries that include AA, AAA, C, D, 9V and rechargeable batteries. The rollout is being supported by a new television campaign that is an updated version of the company’s DieHard TV ad from the 1970s to underscore how the brand is celebrating 45 years as America’s auto battery brand, but now will deliver power and superior performance through a full line of alkaline batteries for household devices.

"This new campaign clearly communicates that the quality of America’s most trusted auto brand is now available in alkaline batteries," DieHard brand director George Kurkowski said. "This allows us to connect with our customers on a more frequent basis whenever they need power for their devices."

DieHard alkaline batteries will be sold at Kmart, among other retailers.
