Cracker Jack expands portfolio

PLANO, Texas — Cracker Jack, a brand from PepsiCo’s Frito-Lay division, will add Chocolate Peanut Butter Flavored Popcorn to its roster. 

The new variety takes the traditional popcorn kernel and coasts it with a chocolate peanut butter flavor, which the company promises will make the popcorn a “shareable” treat, especially at family functions. 

Cracker Jack Chocolate Peanut Butter Flavored Popcorn is now available in 4-oz. bags, which have a suggested retail price of $1.49. Other Cracker Jack varieties include Chocolate & Caramel Flavored Popcorn, Kettle Corn Flavored Popcorn and Original Caramel Coated Popcorn & Peanuts.

B&G foods intros new gluten-free Rickland Orchards CLVR bars

ANAHEIM, Calif. — Rickland Orchards, a brand from B&G Foods, is launching a line of CLVR bars that blends such ingredients as super fruits, grains, seeds and nuts with coconut sugar. The bars launched at Natural Products Expo West and are on the way to retailers. 

The product will initially be available in three flavors: Blueberry Cranberry Chia, Strawberry Banana Quinoa and Pomegranate Mulberry Amaranth. The manufacturer’s goal is to give snackers a smart, health-conscious option that’s gluten-free, as well as dairy-free. 

"It's time to get clever and start eating better at snack time," said Michael Sands, B&G Foods EVP of snacks. "CLVR bars are perfect for people on the go who want to upgrade their granola bars to a more nutritious choice."

The initial three CLVR bars include:

  • Rickland Orchards CLVR Blueberry Cranberry Chia Bars, made with a blend of blueberries, cranberries and nuts including cashews, almonds, pistachios, pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds;
  • Rickland Orchards CLVR Strawberry Banana Quinoa Bars, which feature dried banana and real bits of strawberry and apricot, this bar combines fruit with cashews, almonds, brazil nuts, flax seeds and quinoa flakes; and
  • Rickland Orchards CLVR Pomegranate Mulberry Amaranth Bars, made with cashews, almonds, raisins, pumpkin seeds and raspberry and pomegranate bits combined with dried mulberries, amaranth, and whole grain brown rice.

Rickland Orchards CLVR bars retail for $1.99.

Red Bull expands Editions line

SANTA MONICA, Calif. — Red Bull North America is expanding its Editions line of beverages. Consumers can now expect to see Red Bull Orange Edition, Red Bull Cherry Edition and Red Bull Yellow Edition on store shelves. The company noted that the new beverages will meet a blossoming demand for zero-calorie flavored energy drinks — a category that makes up 59% of overall energy category growth, according to data from Nielsen.

The entire Red Bull Editions line — comprised of Red Bull Red (cranberry), Blue (blueberry), Yellow, Orange and Cherry — are sold in single-serve, 12-oz. cans and are similarly priced with Red Bull Energy Drink, Red Bull Sugarfree and Red Bull Total Zero. Four-packs of Red Bull Red, Blue, Yellow and Orange in 8.4-oz. cans also are available for sale. 

According to the company, Red Bull has now given wings to consumers in more than 166 countries across the globe. Last year alone, more than 5.5 billion cans were consumed, 2 billion of which occurred in the United States.
