Costco sees lift in Q3 comp sales
ISSAQUAH, Wash. — Costco reported on Thursday a boost in third-quarter revenues and net income.
For the quarter ended May 11, net sales rose 7% to $25.23 billion from $23.55 billion last year. Same-store sales in the United States rose 5%, while total same-store sales increased 4%.
Net income for the quarter was $473 million, or $1.07 per diluted share, compared with $459 million, or $1.04 per diluted share, last year.
Costco currently operates 655 warehouses, including 464 in the United States and Puerto Rico, 87 in Canada, 33 in Mexico, 25 in the United Kingdom, 19 in Japan, 10 in Taiwan, 10 in Korea, six in Australia and one in Spain. The company stated that it plans to open up to an additional eight new warehouses prior to the end of its fiscal year on Aug. 31.
HRG honored with two 2014 Communicator Awards
WAUKESHA, Wis. — Hamacher Resource Group on Thursday announced it has been honored with two 2014 Communicator Awards for the artistic direction of client trade show support materials. HRG won an Award of Excellence for the artwork for booth-size banners, tabletop placards and signage that displayed trade ads and the promotional plan for their client, Volo Vitamins. An Award of Distinction was given for the artwork created for multiple booth-size banners, tabletop placards, a poster and countertop product displays for Aqua Maris. Both clients utilized these materials to effectively introduce their products to retail buyers at ECRM events earlier this year.

Elizabeth Arden inks fragrance licensing deal with Wildfox Couture
NEW YORK — Elizabeth Arden has signed an exclusive agreement with Wildfox Couture, the indie vintage-inspired women’s knitwear designer brand, to develop and market its own line of fragrance products.
“Partnering with Wildfox is an opportunity for us to expand our designer fragrance portfolio with a fast-growing fashion brand that has a strong point of view and an incredible ability to relate to the young, fashion-forward consumer,” stated Robin Mason, SVP of global fragrance marketing at Elizabeth Arden.
Based in Los Angeles, musician Jimmy Sommers, CEO and co-founder of Wildfox, along with the creative direction of co-founding partner Kimberley Gordon, continue to develop this lifestyle brand. The brand can be found in select boutiques and department stores.
Internationally, Wildfox is distributed in more than 30 countries, including United Kingdom, France, Spain, Germany, Brazil, Japan, South Korea, Australia, Russia and Taiwan. The Wildfox fragrance is due to launch in the prestige channel in stores spring 2015 and will be distributed globally.
