Combos throws a party for summer

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. — Mars Chocolate announced the introduction of a new Combos party bag to help usher in the summer. The 15-oz. bag is ideal for a range of activities — from family gatherings to road trips — according to the company. The party bags will be available in Cheddar Cheese Pretzel, Pizzeria Pretzel and Cheddar Cheese Cracker.

"Good things are meant to be shared," said Roy Benin, chief consumer officer, Mars Chocolate North America. "The new Combos Party Bag gives our fans the chance to share their favorite Combos flavors with friends and family."

The party bags are available at mass retailers and grocery stores nationwide.

Albertsons/Sav-On Pharmacies offering whooping cough vaccination in Southern Calif.

NEW YORK — As the whooping cough epidemic grows in California, Albertsons/Sav-On Pharmacies throughout Southern California are offering the vaccination to help stop the spread of the highly contagious disease.

Specially trained and certified Albertsons/Sav-On pharmacists are available to administer this vaccine Monday through Sunday, without the need of an appointment.

According to the State’s Health Department, about 800 new cases have been reported within the first two weeks of June.

Whooping cough is a contagious disease that causes violent coughing fits making it hard to breathe. It spreads easily when someone with the disease coughs or sneezes. But a one-time vaccination can prevent the disease from spreading.

Under new ownership, Fresh & Easy launches new marketing campaign

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — Fresh & Easy has launched new five-pillar marketing campaign inviting customers to discover an all-new Fresh & Easy since it transferred to new ownership in November.

The marketing campaign will include radio, outdoor, digital and social media elements running in all markets. The campaign is centered on five pillars that are designed to differentiate Fresh & Easy as new kind of market designed for modern consumers:

  1. Affordable Organics
  2. Handmade in our Kitchen: All of its freshly prepared food is hand-picked, hand-chopped and handmade by chefs.
  3. Delivered Fresh Daily
  4. No Hidden Unpronounceables
  5. Meal Solutions: Whether a shopper is looking for a quick bite or a gourmet meal, the grocer has hundreds of prepared meals available.

“Our goal with this marketing campaign is to welcome shoppers to see the new Fresh & Easy,” stated Mike Evans, Fresh & Easy’s head of marketing. “We set out to make our stores and our brand fresher, easier and more relevant to modern consumers who are looking for healthy, convenient options.”

In September, Tesco announced plans to sell the Fresh & Easy business to private investment firm, the Yucaipa Cos. Yucaipa’s acquisition of Fresh & Easy was completed in November.
