Colleagues weigh in on Wiesner’s impact
Over the course of his career, DSN 2017 Pharmacy Innovator of the Year Dennis Wiesner worked with colleagues both in and outside of H-E-B. Here’s what they had to say about him.

“I had the pleasure of working for Dennis for more than six years. He is known for having a sharp eye for detail and was always free to offer feedback, as well as gracious with his time. But he also always stressed that his comments were meant to provide another perspective, not the only answer to a problem.”
“It is still hard to imagine H-E-B Pharmacy without Dennis Wiesner. Early in my career, he was literally responsible for every aspect of our pharmacy systems. Always a man of patience, I think I only saw him get flustered once or twice over these seven years, but that can happen when the DEA comes knocking.”
HealthWarehouse.com implements Innovation’s PharmASSIST
Pharmacy automation company Innovation has gotten the seal of approval from a big new client. The Johnson City, N.Y.-based company’s PharmASSIST Quick Start high volume technology has been chosen by HealthWarehouse.com for use in its online/mail-order pharmacy in Florence, Ky.
“Deploying Innovation’s scalable, high-volume pharmacy automation lays the foundation for our rapid growth and expansion while maintaining our high standards of excellence in patient care and services,” HealthWarehouse.com president and CEO Joseph Peters said. “In our search for the right solution, Innovation set itself apart with its combination of premier robotics and highly configurable pharmacy workflow technology tailored to our unique requirements.”
The PharmASSIST Quick Start system that HealthWarehouse.com will use includes the PharmASSIST RDS robotic dispensing technology with Model 4 dispensers, which Innovation said can self-calibrate and count simultaneiously. The system also has pneumatic vial/cap delivery, a conveyer, digital pharmacist verification, collation, packaging and PharmASSIST Symphony workstations to allow for manual filling, the companies said.
“One of the key determining factors in choosing Innovation’s pharmacy solution was its inherent ability to scale for future growth,” Peters said. “The system’s open architecture also easily accommodated our proprietary e-commerce/pharmacy management system platform for servicing online customers and pharmacy workflow.”

Health Dialog disease management accreditation extended through 2020
Health Dialog announced Tuesday that it has received Patient Oriented Accreditation from the National Committee for Quality Assurance for its disease management programs for asthma, congestive heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, coronary heart disease and diabetes.
