CityTarget to open in Westwood, Calif.
MINNEAPOLIS — Target is bringing its smaller-format store to the Los Angeles metropolitan area.
The 98,000-sq.-ft. CityTarget, which will be located in Westwood, Calif., will open in July 2012. It is the second store of its kind confirmed in the area, with the first being open in October 2012 in downtown Los Angeles.
Target currently has 58 other stores in Los Angeles.
“Target is thrilled to bring our newest store format, CityTarget, to this thriving Los Angeles neighborhood,” Target EVP property development John Griffith said. “We look forward to providing our guests on the Westside with high quality merchandise at a great value and the exceptional one-stop shopping experience they have come to expect from Target.”

Harris Teeter, MillerCoors to provide 400 military families with turkeys, meals
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Harris Teeter and MillerCoors on Tuesday announced that the companies jointly will host Operation Homefront Thanksgiving Feast for Military Families on Nov. 22.
Families of DC National Guard members will arrive at the DC Armory to greet a Harris Teeter tractor trailer filled with traditional holiday dinners. Thanks to the support of MillerCoors and Operation Homefront, Harris Teeter is providing 400 families — many of which have loved ones deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan over the holidays — with fully prepared turkey dinners.
Representatives from Harris Teeter will be on hand to receive thanks and commemorative coins from the commander of the DC National Guard, General Errol Schwartz and leaders of the Guard’s Family Readiness Group.
“Times are tough for our military, and multiple deployments, on top of a bad economy, have made it especially hard for their families,” stated Vivian Dietrich, president of Operation Homefront’s DC Metro Chapter. “On behalf of those who sacrifice so much for us, we thank Harris Teeter for its generous support.”

Winn-Dixie opens transformational store that touts Hispanic influence
MIAMI — Winn-Dixie Stores on Tuesday celebrated the completion of its seventh state-of-the-art transformational store and the first to have a bilingual decor package.
“This store exemplifies our commitment to South Florida guests and serves as a one-stop grocery destination catering to the needs, tastes and preferences of the surrounding community,” Winn-Dixie regional VP Randy Rambo said. “We are passionate about delivering on our promise of providing Winn-Dixie guests with excellent service and an exceptional shopping experience.”
The Coral Way Winn-Dixie store features a sitting area, complete with free Wi-Fi internet access and a full-service Cuban café.
Features specific to the newly remodeled Miami Winn-Dixie include a new bilingual store decor package and a remodeled and expanded pharmacy, as well as several other expanded food departments.
Physical changes in the store include hardwood flooring throughout the produce, deli and bakery departments, and highly polished concrete floors elsewhere in the store, as well as modern lighting and brighter, more colorful bilingual decor that showcases the thousands of store offerings. Guests also can find “Winn-Dixie” and “Winn-Dixie Organic & Natural” private-label products, as well as a wide variety of Hispanic offerings. “We are committed to providing our South Florida guests with the greatest value and quality possible,” Rambo said.
To celebrate the grand reopening, Winn-Dixie will host a series of celebrations throughout November including cooking demonstrations, food tastings, live entertainment, raffles and giveaways.
