Chef Pepin becomes the newest face of Navarro Discount Pharmacies

BY Allison Cerra

MIAMI — Navarro Discount Pharmacies has tapped a TV personality to serve as its celebrity spokesman.

Chef Pepin now is part of Navarro’s overall marketing campaign and expansion strategy, the Miami-based drug store chain said. In addition to promoting a healthy lifestyle to Navarro’s customers through in-store demonstrations and other outreach efforts, Pepin will assist with the promotion of the company’s extensive line of household appliances — currently available in stores and soon to be available online.

The healthy-eating promotion is part of Navarro’s Diabetes Club, which focuses on nutrition, exercise and prevention for adults and children, the retailer said. “Chef Pepin is an icon to Hispanics and Latinos everywhere,” said Steve Kaczynski, Navarro Discount Pharmacies CEO. “Together, we will educate Hispanics about adopting a healthier approach to food and how to cook healthy.”

Highlighting health observance, United Supermarkets offers flu vaccine special to customers

BY Allison Cerra

LUBBOCK, Texas — United Supermarkets’ family of stores is recognizing National Influenza Vaccination Week by offering customers a $20 flu vaccine special.

The national observance, which runs from Dec. 5 through Dec. 11, was established to highlight the importance of continuing influenza vaccination, as well as fostering greater distribution of the flu vaccine during the holiday season, into January and beyond, , according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The vaccine will be offered at United Supermarkets, Market Street and Amigos United pharmacies.

"We are reducing the cost of our influenza vaccine during this time in an effort to vaccinate more of our guests and help promote a healthy, flu-free holiday season," said Tim Purser, business director pharmacy for United Supermarkets. "An annual flu shot is the first and best step toward prevention of the flu."
