CeraVe taps Olympic swimmer Rebecca Soni to promote new sun care line
NEW YORK — Skin care brand CeraVe, developed by Valeant Pharmaceuticals North America, is expanding its portfolio with a line of sun care products slated to hit stores beginning this month.
The new CeraVe Sun Care line, developed with dermatologists, includes eight products for the face and body with various applications offering both broad spectrum SPF 30 and SPF 50 protection, and will be sold in the sun protection aisle in drug stores and mass market.
To help promote the new line, CeraVe has partnered with USA swimmer Rebecca Soni, six-time Olympic medalist and World Record holder in the 100- and 200-meter breaststroke. Soni will serve as the face of the brand in 2013.
"Ms. Soni will appear in print advertisements throughout the year and is involved with helping to promote CeraVe Sun Care through our social media outreach on Facebook, Twitter (@rebsoni) and YouTube," stated Katherine Salazar, associate director of Valeant Consumer Medical Products.
BIC develops new Soleil Shave & Trim
SHELTON, Conn. — BIC has expanded its Soleil portfolio with the new Soleil Shave & Trim, which is designed to simplify shaving and bikini trimming by combining flexible triple-blade shaving technology with a slide-on/slide off trimmer.
The product will be available in January and has a suggested retail price of $7.49 for a package of three razors and one slide-on/slide-off trimmer.
The BIC Soleil Shave & Trim offers the following features:
- Three flexible blades for a smooth shave;
- Pivoting head with rubber grip handle for extra comfort;
- Lubricating strip with vitamin E; and

Giant Eagle locks in prices for the winter on hundreds of items
PITTSBURGH — Giant Eagle on Thursday announced a new Winter Low Price Lock on hundreds of popular products.
"Due to the positive customer response to our Low Price Lock during the holiday season, we are freezing prices all winter long," stated Giant Eagle senior director of corporate communications Rob Borella. "Not only is Giant Eagle extending price locks on many of the most popular items from October’s campaign, but also we have added hundreds of new products often on shoppers’ lists," he said. "The Winter Low Price Lock campaign is another multi-million dollar investment Giant Eagle is making to give customers everyday low prices they can count on as they start 2013 with budget-friendly meals in mind."
The Winter Low Price Lock item list includes a combination of national brands like Nestle, Tropicana, and Sugardale, as well as Giant Eagle brand products from across the store including meat, seafood, produce, deli, dairy, grocery, bakery, prepared foods and health and beauty items. Many seasonal items extended from the original program such Nestle Cocoa, Giant Eagle Oatmeal and Blistex lip care remain at the same prices, as well as a variety of everyday items including Giant Eagle Greek yogurt and white bread, navel oranges, potatoes, pork tenderloin and eight-piece fried chicken. Additionally, non-food items including free pre-natal vitamins and $4 and $10 generic prescription drugs in the pharmacy department, along with the Net10 Samsung S390G mobile phone, continue to be locked.
