Carex launches two new bath safety products

NORWELL, Mass. — Carex Health Brands on Wednesday launched two new bathroom safety products: the Ultra Grip extra bar and the Ultra Grip pivot grab bar.

Offering support when entering or leaving the bathtub or shower, the new grab bars assist users with balance and stability when bathing. Easily installed and removed, the grab bars’ strong suction grips hold tightly to any smooth, flat, nonporous surface. An indicator button also allows users to know when the suction grips are securely fastened as an added safety measure. The Ultra Grip Pivot Grab Bar’s pivot design allows for multiple grab bar positions.

The introduction of the Ultra Grip Grab Bars coincides with a heightened demand among independent seniors for quality bath safety products. More than one third of seniors over the age of 65 fall every year in the United States, and the majority of these falls occur in the bathroom, Carex noted.

The items are available for a suggested retail price of $17.99 each.

Natural product advocate joins CHPA as new VP government affairs

WASHINGTON — The Consumer Healthcare Products Association on Tuesday named John Gay as the association’s VP government affairs. Gay will begin his duties March 8.

Reporting to CHPA president and CEO Scott Melville, Gay will oversee the association’s state and federal government affairs departments, its political action committee, and will serve as a member of the association’s senior management team.

“John brings a wealth of government affairs, association, and corporate experience to CHPA and has a proven record of legislative achievement,” Melville said. “His keen political insight, seasoned legislative perspective, and ability to build broad, diverse coalitions will enhance CHPA’s overall advocacy efforts.”

A graduate of the University of Virginia and a native of Georgia, Gay began his career in the office of former Sen. Mack Mattingly, R-Ga., and proceeded to a series of increasingly responsible positions with Anderson Worldwide, the Hotel & Lodging Association, the International Franchise Association and the National Restaurant Association.
 
Most recently, Gay was president and CEO of the Natural Products Association, an organization that represents retailers and manufacturers of natural products.

St. Joseph Consumer Health expands well-known aspirin brand into cough-cold

LAS VEGAS — Annapolis, Md.-based St. Joseph Consumer Health last week unveiled a new St. Joseph-branded line of cough-cold products formulated for patients with high blood pressure at the ECRM Cough & Cold and Allergy EPPS.

The products all feature "decongestant-free" on the package underneath the St. Joseph brand, long known for its 81-mg daily aspirin regimen. The lineup includes a multi-symptom day/night caplet formulation, two formulations targeting cold and flu symptoms and a cough tablet SKU.

The company also is adding a 325-mg aspirin product to its line of aspirin products.
