Camp Cardinal Health to tour Chicago’s favorite destinations

The countdown is on.

With a little more than two months to go before a crowd of more than 8,000 independent pharmacists and their families converge on the Windy City for RBC 2016 in Chicago, Cardinal Health has assembled a special program for the kids, with four full days of activity planned for children ages 3 to 17 years old.

Several iconic destinations are on the agenda this year for Camp Cardinal Health, including:

  • The Art Institute of Chicago, where “campers” will be able to get their creative juices flowing. With the help of students of The Art Institute and Museum of Contemporary Art, campers will try their hands at creating their own works of art, drawing inspiration from the famous art collections located throughout Chicago. Featuring one of the most extensive permanent collections of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist art, the Art Institute of Chicago will also feature a number of special installations during Cardinal Health RBC 2016, including, a unique collection of intricate glass paperweights, and the Throne Rooms exhibit, which displays dozens of historically accurate miniature models of royal throne rooms from different time periods and locations from all over the world. “Rompers,” or children ages 3 to 6 years, will visit the Art Institute on Wednesday, July 20. “Adventurers,” or children ages 7 to 11 years, and “Explorers,” children ages 12 to 17 years, will visit on Saturday, July 23.
  • The 103rd floor Skydeck of the world-renowned Willis Tower — the second-tallest building in the United States, where, on a clear day at 1,353 ft., visitors are able to view four different states. “Adventurers” will visit on Wednesday, July 20, and “Explorers” will visit on Thursday, July 21.
  • Buckingham Fountain. Modeled after the Latona Fountain in the Palace of Versailles, the fountain features four seahorses, each symbolizing the four states that border nearby Lake Michigan: including Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana and Michigan. “Adventurers” will visit on Wednesday, July 20.
  • Lake Michigan boat tour. Will take campers through the Chicago Lock — a unique water system built in in the early 20th century that reversed the flow of the Chicago River — and ending up in Lake Michigan to take in the skyline. “Adventurers” will visit on Thursday, July 21, and “Explorers” will visit on Friday, July 22.
  • Millennium Park. Considered the second-busiest tourist attraction in Chicago behind Navy Pier, the park features a variety of public art. Both “Adventurers” and “Explorers” will visit the park on Wednesday, July 20.
  • Navy Pier and all its many attractions, including its famous 196-ft. Ferris wheel. “Explorers” will visit Navy Pier on Thursday, July 21, while “Rompers” and “Adventurers” will visit on Saturday, July 23.  
  • Lincoln Park Zoo/Shedd Aquarium. At the Lincoln Park Zoo, campers will be able to see the three latest editions of the snow monkey troop at the Regenstein Macaque forest. Chicago’s Shedd Aquarium is one of the world’s largest indoor public aquariums featuring more than 32,000 animals. The Shedd Aquarium is a part of the Museum Campus, a 57-acre park that also hosts the Adler Planetarium and the Field Museum of Natural History. “Rompers” will visit the zoo on Thursday, July 21. “Adventurers” will visit the aquarium on Thursday, July 21, and the zoo on Friday, July 22.
  • United Center tour. Home to the NBA’s Chicago Bulls, where Michael Jordan helped the city notch six NBA championships, the United Center also hosts the NHL’s five-time Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks. “Rompers” will make the trip to the United Center on Thursday, July 21.
  • Chicago History Museum. The museum’s Robert R. McCormick Theater, featuring its state-of-the-art 4K digital projector will take campers on an interactive, dynamic tour through major events in Chicago’s history, such as the Great Chicago Fire, the World Fair of 1893, the sights of bustling Maxwell Street in the 1950s and an I-beam view from the construction of the Sears Tower in the 1970s. “Adventurers” will visit the museum on Friday, July 22.

CVS Pharmacy to roll out digital receipts for ExtraCare Rewards members

WOONSOCKET, R.I. — Checking out at CVS Pharmacy will soon be paperless for the company’s 70 million rewards program members with the launch of digital receipts for those enrolled in ExtraCare. CVS Pharmacy president Helena Foulkes announced the move on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” Friday, noting that it would begin rolling out in early June, eventually reaching all 7,900 locations. 
 
“We are excited to roll out the much-anticipated launch of digital receipts. We heard loud and clear that while our customers love receiving coupons and special offers, many wanted a paperless option,” Foulkes said.  “This feature lets our customers continue to make personalized choices as to how they engage with us, and will let our members choose to say 'So long!' to the long paper receipts at check-out.”
 
Customers can opt-in to digital receipts delivered via email by signing up for ExtraCare Rewards (if they aren’t already members) and providing a valid email address. Customers can also ask a store associate at the front register to enroll them. 
 
Members will still receive exclusive benefits and personalized savings offers, as well as available ExtraBucks Rewards and more, and will be able to use them in-store using the “send to card” button next to each offer. Customers who opted into digital receipts can still request a paper one if they would like, the company said.
