Calgon to relaunch Turquoise Seas fragrance

BALTIMORE, Md. — Bath and beauty brand Calgon, which is managed by Ilex Consumer Products Group, has announced the return of its Turquoise Seas fragrance after more than five years off the shelf.


In March 2010, Calgon rebranded its entire bath and body line with new packaging and a marketing campaign. With the repositioning, Calgon launched more than 30 new products while keeping its roots with Morning Glory, English Garden and Hawaiian Ginger scents. Turquoise Seas, with notes of florals, aquatic greens and white musk, continued to be the No. 1 requested fragrance from consumers, which paved the way for the relaunch, according to the company.

Calgon also will introduce a new fruity-floral fragrance, Berry Ravishing. Launching just in time for the spring and summer seasons, both Turquoise Seas and Berry Ravishing will be available at select national retailers beginning late spring 2012 as an 8-oz. Refreshing Body Mist.

To support the launch, Calgon will be rolling out a major marketing and public relations campaign under Alliance, the activation and public relations division of Grey NY. The sales effort and new product launches for Calgon is driven by Ilex Consumer Products Group, which acquired the business in November 2008, when it bought the company from Ascendia Brands.

Hain Celestial unveils new personal care products at Natural Products Expo West

MELVILLE, N.Y. — The Hain Celestial Group, a maker of natural personal care products, announced the debut of more than 20 new personal care products at the Natural Products Expo West earlier this month, as well as more than 90 product reformulations to the NSF/ANSI 305 Standard for Personal Care Products Containing Organic Ingredients.

Highlights of Hain Celestial’s personal care product offerings include:

Alba Botanica Brand:
The Alba Botanica brand has introduced two new natural Very Emollien sunscreen sprays. Available in sport SPF 40 and kids SPF 40, the no-slip-grip pump sprayer aims to reduce environmental and inhalation risks associated with aerosol chemical propellant sprays, the company stated. Later this spring, the Alba Botanica brand will offer two pre-moistened towelettes. Each uses cloths made from natural, biodegradeable material to remove makeup, cleanse and tone the skin. Alba Botanica Natural Acnedote Clean ‘n Treat towelettes feature salicylic acid at the maximum strength 2% level to help prevent and treat acne. Alba Botanica Hawaiian 3-in-1 vlean towelettes feature pineapple and papaya enzymes to break through oil and dead surface cells for a deep pore cleanse and aloe and awapuhi to tone, nourish and refine the skin without tightness.

Earth’s Best Brand:

The Earth’s Best brand line of baby body care products has announced the arrival of several new items. Earth’s Best nonpetroleum jelly is made with botanical oils and extracts, including vitamins A and E. Earth’s Best organic teething gel is a nonmedicated gel with organic menthol to help soothe painful gums; organic licorice and chamomile to help ease baby’s discomfort; and organic vanilla to warm and alleviate gum and tummy irritation associated with teething. Earth’s Best organic cold relief vapor ointment helps soothe and relieve coughing associated with the common cold and helps clear nasal passages and loosen mucus so baby can breathe more easily. To relieve minor aches and pains associated with the common cold, there’s Earth’s Best organic cold relief vapor ointment, which contains calming eucalyptus and peppermint essential oils in a nonsticky botanical formula. To round out the new product offerings, the brand is launching Earth’s Best organic cold soothing baby wash, which contains therapeutic aromas of eucalyptus and tee tree essential oils to help open airways and echinacea to help soothe and relieve discomfort along with aloe vera and beta glucan to gently hydrate baby’s skin. Earth’s Best organic teething gel, cold relief vapor ointment and cold soothing baby wash are certified to the NSF/ANSI 305 Standard for Personal Care Products Containing Organic Ingredients’ by Quality Assurance International.

Queen Helene Brand:
Based upon the introduction of Royal Curl hair care products last year, the new Princess Curl line is specially designed for curly-haired children. Available in Soft Twirls shampoo, Silky Twirls conditioner and Curly Twirls creme, the Princess Curl curl enhancing hair care line is infused with royal jelly, which is packed with 17 amino acids, plus vitamins A, B, C, D and K, that feeds the queen bee in her hive. The royal jelly in the new Princess Curl hair care line works with natural oils and botanical extracts to soften kinks, smooth waves and define curls while delivering shine and softness.

Coty introduces limited-edition fragrance from Beyoncé

NEW YORK — Coty has announced that the new Beyoncé Pulse Summer Edition fragrance, the new addition to the Beyoncé Parfums collection, will be on counters this spring.

A lighter and fresher rendition of the original Pulse eau de parfum, Pulse Summer Edition’s orchestra of fruity and floral notes makes it an ideal scent for the warm, joyful, flirty summer months.

“We are thrilled to present a new limited edition fragrance to the successful Beyoncé Parfums portfolio,” stated Steve Mormoris, SVP of global marketing at Coty Beauty. “Beyoncé is a true force of nature and translating her positive energy into a summer fragrance was a natural progression. We think women will love the lighter, more playful side of Beyoncé Pulse Summer Edition.”

Created by IFF perfumer Bruno Jovanovic, Beyoncé Pulse Summer Edition is a fruity floral with top notes of pear, icy mandarin and pink pepper. The floral heart features the ginger orchid, jasmine and Tunisian orange flowers. Finally, a dry down of sapphire woods, musks and benzoin completes the base.

Beyoncé Pulse Summer Edition features a one-of-a-kind packaging design. The turquoise juice is encased in a faceted bottle, which rests nestled in an inverted chrome cap, inspired by Beyoncé’s stage costumes, and finished with a bold pink logo. The holographic carton shimmers in feminine shades of turquoise and pink and echoes the bright color palette of the summer season.

The eau de parfum 50 ml is priced at $49. The Eau de Parfum 100 ml is priced at $59.

On counter spring 2012, Beyoncé Pulse Summer Edition is a limited edition and will be available at select perfumery chains and department stores.
