BJ’s Wholesale Club brings savings to consumers with new mobile app
WESTBOROUGH, Mass. — BJ’s Wholesale Club has announced a new mobile app. Customers are able to check gas prices, access digital coupons, shop the thousands of products within the store and check annual savings.
A new feature to the app is Add-to-Card, where members can digitally select and save coupons directly to their BJ’s membership card. These coupons will be automatically applied during the checkout process. The Add-to-Card coupon gallery will feature all the coupons found in The Little Book of Big Savings in addition to those from manufacturers.
"The new BJ's mobile app and Add-to-Card coupons give members access to BJ's unbeatable value and assortment anytime, anywhere," Rafeh Masood, senior vice president and Chief Digital Officer, BJ's Wholesale Club said. "At BJ's, we're committed to offering our members the most convenient ways to shop and save, and we're excited to launch these new features. Our new app lets members check prices at the nearest BJ's Gas location and track their annual savings or My BJ's Perks Awards depending on membership level."
For a limited time, club members who download the app will be able to save $.05 cents per gallon at the nearest BJ’s Gas location. The company previously launched new desktop and mobile sites as well as two new websites dedicated to exclusive brands Berkley Jensen and Wellsley Farms.
The BJ’s app is available on both iOS and Android devices.
Dollar General names head of its digital operations
GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. — Dollar General has appointed its first-ever digital leader.
The extreme-value discounter has appointed Rob Scruggs to the newly created position of chief digital and customer engagement officer. In this new role, Scruggs will lead the strategy for customer engagement, including digital experience and tools.
Most recently, Scruggs served as global director of client experience for Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where he was responsible for the end-to-end client experience for global commercial clients. Prior to that, he held customer experience roles at Asurion, E-Trade and J.P. Morgan Chase.
CVS Health supports cancer research with fourth year of in-store fundraiser
WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS Health is moving into year four of its fundraising campaign to raise money for Stand Up To Cancer. The company on Monday announced the latest effort, taking place Oct. 29 through Nov. 19 at CVS Pharmacy location nationwide, allowing customers to donate $1, $3 or more at checkout or online.
“Just about everyone knows someone battling cancer and it affects our customers, colleagues, and communities every day,” CVS Health EVP and CVS Pharmacy president Helena Foulkes said. “As a purpose-driven company dedicated to helping people on their path to better health, we're proud to support Stand Up To Cancer as they accelerate groundbreaking research to help save more lives.”
The company is supporting this year’s efforts with in-store radio and marketing efforts featuring Stand Up To Cancer ambassador, Golden Globe-winning actress and “Blackish” star Tracee Ellis Ross. The campaign also will feature a public service announcement created in partnership with comedy brand Funny or Die.
“I am honored to help raise awareness and funds for Stand Up To Cancer through CVS Health's fundraising campaign,” Ross said. “Cancer has touched so many of our lives, and I hope everyone will join me in helping make more cancer patients into survivors by donating in stores or online.”
Donations from the camnpaign will support Stand Up To Cancer’s collaborative cancer research model, which brings scientists from different institutions and disciplines together to translate their research from the lab to the patient. Previous efforts have supported targeted cancer therapies and immunotherapy advancement, the company said.
