Bare Escentuals appoints new independent director to board
SAN FRANCISCO Bare Escentuals, a maker of mineral makeup, has appointed John Hamlin as an independent board member and member of its board’s compensation committee.
With Hamlin’s appointment, the board now consists of nine directors.
Hamlin is president and managing partner of Bozeman Limited Partnership, an Austin-based private equity firm. Previously, he spent 11 years at Dell, where he served as an executive officer and SVP. He was the SVP responsible for Dell’s global online business as well as Dell’s worldwide brand and advertising strategy. He also served as SVP, GM of Dell’s U.S. consumer business.
M&M Products Co.’s Sofn’freen’Pretty line extended
ATLANTA M&M Products Co., an ethnic hair care company, is extending its 10-year-old Sofn’freen’Pretty line for girls to combine olive oil with sunflower oil into everyday maintenance products for ethnic hair.
This spring, the line, geared toward girls aged 5 to 12, will include Sofn’freen’Pretty Olive & Sunflower Oil Moisturizing Lotion, Edge Tamer, and Hair and Scalp Cream.
The new products have a suggested retail price of $3.99 each and will be sold at beauty supply stores, select retailers and on the company’s Web site.
To further help children maintain healthy hair, the company has also created “The ABCs of Hair Care,” a pamphlet that lists 26 tips and facts about the hair, ranging from styling tips to good eating and sleeping habits. The pamphlet will be available alongside the products at select retailers and on the company’s Web site.
Alan Meyers to become chief science officer at Revlon
NEW YORK Revlon has appointed Alan Meyers EVP and chief science officer, effective Jan. 1, 2010.
Meyers will succeed Neil Scancarella, who has served as Revlon’s chief science officer since January 2000. Scancarella will retire in December of this year.
Meyers has spent his career in cosmetics research and development positions of increasing scope and responsibility with Avon, Elizabeth Arden and L’Oreal USA. Most recently, he served as SVP research development and consumer affairs for L’Oreal USA.
