Awakening’s espresso-based hand cream aims to suppress food odors

CANYON, Calif. — Awakening Mineral Skin Care, whose products are sold at select Whole Foods Markets and specialty boutiques, has developed an espresso-based hand cream designed to suppress food odors while healing and hydrating skin.

"The vase of coffee beans on the cosmetics counter at Bloomingdale’s or Nordstrom’s is there for a purpose — to cleanse the nose of fragrance," stated Rob Hardwicke, Awakening president and product master. "Our Espresso Hands product functions in the same way: using coffee to cleanse the skin of cooking odors — and much more — as it also hydrates and heals skin."

Awakening products emphasize the use of natural magnesium and potassium for topical application to the skin to heal and hydrate. The company stated that it isolates these two minerals at its boutique lab, then hand crafts creams using essential oils and botanical extracts. Because the products are unisex, the creams’ natural fragrances are subtle and nonfloral.

Industry vet Michael Piff joins CCA Industries

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Beauty company CCA Industries has appointed Michael Piff as EVP sales.

Piff joins CCA with extensive industry experience at such companies as DowBrands, Minnetonka Brands and Cosrich/Health Science Labs, and will be based at company headquarters in East Rutherford.
