Almay launches pure blends line of cosmetics for eyes, lips, face

NEW YORK Almay is rolling out for 2009 its Almay pure blends line of color cosmetics.

The hypoallergenic formulas are made from 95.8% to 98.2% natural ingredients including an exclusive complex of fruit and flower extracts. The products are free of talc and added parabens. In addition, the packaging is made from 44% recycled materials on average.

The collection, available at retail in January, includes foundation, loose finishing powder, blush/bronzer, eye shadow and lipgloss.

National Eczema Association accepts Theraplex skin treatment products

MEMPHIS, Tenn. The National Eczema Association on Tuesday awarded its Seal of Acceptance to Theraplex Emollient and Theraplex Clear Lotion.

“These products met our criteria for having no irritating ingredients and being suitable for people with eczema,” said Julie Block, NEA vice president. “Our Review Panel members considered the clinical studies carefully. … Theraplex received an EASE rating of 5 out of 5 possible points because these products do not contain known irritants to eczema or sensitive skin at any level.”

The NEA Seal of Acceptance is part of the association’s Eczema & Sensitive-Skin Education program, which is intended to improve the quality of life for people who suffer from eczema and sensitive skin.

“We are very proud of this special designation because it recognizes our products’ effectiveness in restoring the skin’s moisture,” commented Michael Pietrangelo, managing partner of The Theraplex Company. “Clinical studies have shown that Theraplex stops and prevents the vicious cycle of persistent dry skin by delivering moisture deep into the epidermal layer to restore skin to good health so it can resist moisture loss,” he said.

Theraplex moisturizers are available from pharmacists behind the pharmacy counter at stores Walgreens, Rite Aid, CVS/pharmacy, Costco and several independent pharmacies, Pietrangelo said.

Ms. Manicure and Ms. Pedicure have new looks, products for 2009

NEW YORK Paris Presents’ Ms. Manicure and Ms. Pedicure brands have a line-up of new products for spring, as well as a new look for the New Year.

Paris Presents, a self-proclaimed authority in do-it-yourself nail care, has revamped its Ms. Manicure and Ms. Pedicure collections to achieve “the perfect balance of functionality and sophistication.” In addition, the Ms. girl, herself, has been given a modern look with a vintage feel, and now sports a sophisticated, fresh style. She has pouty red lips and jet-black hair, and her look is topped off with a red headband, bracelet and earrings that complement her flawless red manicure.

The overall new look is chic and modern, and all of the new products are housed in girly pink and white-striped packaging. Eye-catching and sophisticated cursive lettering give the goods an extra touch of class. In keeping with its tradition, all of the Ms. products have a special “How-To” on the back of the packaging for those do-it-yourself beauty mavens.

New products for 2009 include:

  • The Foot Spahh: An all-inclusive kit of products to revive tired legs and feet.
  • Smooth Talker: A tool that promises to stop calluses before they start.
  • Heeling Fine: An intensive foot cream.
  • Smoothy Groovy: A foot brush and pumice stone combination.
  • Rock ?n Sole: A pumice stone for whisk away dry skin.
  • Handy Dandy Mani: An all-inclusive kit to make at-home manicures a breeze.
  • Block Party: A soft rectangular buffing block.
  • Call Your Buff: A six-way buffer.

 

None of the products in the 2009 collection are priced at more than $12.99.
