    CARLISLE, Pa. — Ahold USA on Monday named Nick Bertram, SVP merchandising at Ahold USA, to president Giant/Martin's in January 2018. Tom Lenkevich, who has been Giant/Martin's president since 2014, is retiring at the end of the year.

  • Giant partners with Instacart on same-day delivery in Philadelphia

    SAN FRANCISCO — Instacart is expanding its same-day delivery in Phiadelphia through Giant, the grocer announced Thursday.

    SAN FRANCISCO — Stop & Shop and Instacart on Monday announced plans to bring same-day delivery to Stop & Shop customers in the city of Boston.

  • Food Lion to offer discount for military members, families on Memorial Day

    SALISBURY, N.C. — Food Lion will be celebrating Memorial Day this year by offering active and retired military personnel and their family a 10% discount, the retailer announced Friday. The discount will be available at all stores on May 29 for those who present their personal MVP card and military ID at checkout.

  • Giant donates $2M to more than 2,000 schools

    LANDOVER, Md. — Giant Food of Landover on Tuesday announced it donated $2 million to 2,322 public and private schools in Maryland, Virginia, Washington, D.C., and Delaware. The funds are part of the 2016-2017 A+ School Rewards program, where purchases made by Giant customers help provide funding to area schools.

    For the second year in a row, 20 schools received more than $10,000 each as part of the program. Mater Dei School in Bethesda, Md., received the largest check, $29,301.39, as a result of this year’s program.  

  • Giant to offer free health screenings

    LANDOVER, MD. — GIant will offer free health screenings at select pharmacies on May 20 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., where consumers can receive blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol screenings. Giant pharmacists can also help determine if customeers need any recommended adult vaccinations.

  • Synergy savings offset price deflation during Q1 at Ahold Delhaize U.S. division

    ZAANDAM, the Netherlands — Ahold Delhaize, parent company to several U.S. supermarket chains, including Stop & Shop, Giant, Food Lion and Hannaford, revealed in its 2017 first quarter in the United States, sales were impacted by continuing price deflation, adverse weather and the timing of Easter, but were offset by the delivery of strong synergy savings in the quarter.
