Amazon reported that its 20th holiday brought record growth for Amazon Prime and it saved customers more than $2 billion on free two-day shipping through Amazon Prime and other free shipping offers. In addition, 100 million more items shipped for free this holiday compared with last.
U.S. retailers are approaching the holiday shopping season with prudence. According to a July 2013 survey, conducted by e-commerce technology provider Baynote, 38% of retailers project a year-over-year increase in online sales of just 11% to 20%.
