NEW YORK — Rite Aid has brought the latest iteration of its Wellness store format to Manhattan with the remodel of a 14-year-old store. In a recent interview with DSN, Rite Aid president and COO Ken Martindale said part of the challenge of the remodel was fitting it inside the smaller space that characterizes many of the chain’s urban stores; this particular store is about 9,200 sq. ft., compared with about 14,000 sq. ft. for the Lemoyne, Pa., store where the company debuted the new Wellness format, dubbed Genuine Well Being.

AMSTERDAM — British retailer Marks & Spencer has unveiled its latest concept store, bringing its “clicks and bricks” strategy to the Dutch capital after a 10-year absence from the country. The 5,000-sq.-ft., women’s clothing-focused store includes features like a “virtual rail,” which it calls the first of its kind. The rail is a display that integrates physical rails of clothing samples with digital rails, consisting of three 46-in.

SAN FRANCISCO — Walgreens celebrated the official opening of its latest flagship store located at Powell and O’Farrell streets in the heart of San Francisco’s Union Square neighborhood. The store’s expanded features include a Look Boutique beauty department that features dozens of prestige and niche cosmetic, skin care and hair care brands, including Britain’s leading skin care and cosmetics brand, No7, created by Boots.
