Walgreens, LPGA Legends tee up to benefit Phoenix Children's Hospital

SUN CITY WEST, Ariz. — On May 1, Walgreens vendor partners and Walgreens executives teamed with 32 Legends of the LPGA, including Nancy Lopez, Pat Bradley, Jan Stephenson, Rosie Jones, Jane Blalock and Patty Sheehan, among others, at the Wigwam Resort in Litchfield Park, Ariz., for a round of golf three days before the Legends Tour's third annual Walgreens Charity Classic

All ticket proceeds from the Walgreens Charity Classic benefited the Phoenix Children’s Hospital. All told, the event raised $42,500 for Phoenix Children’s Hospital, according to event organizers.

First-round play at the Legends Tour’s third annual Walgreens Charity Classic started May 3 on the Grandview Golf Course. Swedish golfer Liselotte Neumann turned up the heat in the Arizona desert for the tournament, defeating Danielle Ammaccapane on May 4 in four extra holes to earn her first Legends Tour’s title at the Walgreens Charity Classic.

Also as part of the event, Walgreens hosted its Walgreens Healthy Living Expo from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., on Saturday and Sunday. The “Steps with Balance Rewards” on-course walk began at 10:30 a.m. each day and took place on the back nine holes of the Grandview Gold Course in Sun City West, Ariz.

The 36-hole stroke-play event featured a field of 48 Legends Tour players competing for a $250,000 purse.
