Rite Aid celebrates Veterans Day by setting up The Rite Aid Station at the Walk for Vets in Norfolk, Va. Rite Aid partnered with Operation Homefront, a program dedicated to providing unique and direct services to meet the needs of injured service members.

With signs of the devastation from Hurricane Sandy still clearly visible, a tractor trailer loaded with donated products and a crew of more than 20 Rite Aid associates arrived to support the Breezy Point Cooperative Relief Center.

The RA50 van was at the finish line of the 17th Annual Steamtown Marathon in Scranton, Pa., in October. The first Rite Aid store was opened in Scranton in 1962.

During RA50, Rite Aid partnered with more than five Children’s Miracle Network hospitals across the country to donate “new family kits” to parents. They filled them with “baby essentials,” including diapers, lotion and bottle liners.

RA50 arrived in Philadelphia to give a big “thank you” to Philadelphia fire departments and their continued dedication to the communities they serve by giving these heroes outdoor wellness kits.

The RA50 team "invaded" Schenley Oval Sportsplex in Pittsburgh to deliver Sports Team kits, which included essentials like first aid items, bottled water and healthy snacks, all in a Rite Aid cooler.

After unloading the Rite Aid truck, the RA50 team helped relief center volunteers with delivery from Red Cross in Breezy Point, N.Y. In the weeks after Hurricane Sandy, Rite Aid focused the RA50 initiative on relief efforts.

The RA50 team brought Thrifty Ice Cream to the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles for an ice cream social, where Miss California 2012 Leah Cecil was joined by Rite Aid mascots Tuggy and Cone Boy.

Just in time for cold and flu season, the Rite Aid team visited the Portland Food Bank, where they provided free flu shots to volunteers and staff.

For Rite Aid, 50 is the magic number this year.

In September, the drug chain marked its 50 years in business with a six-month campaign to promote its focus on health and wellness, kicking off a nationwide tour near its Camp Hill, Pa., headquarters. From there, the tour visited Baltimore, Philadelphia, Cleveland, Detroit, Los Angeles, Portland, Ore., and other cities.

The tour comes at a time when the company has seen significant improvements in its business, including seven straight quarters of prescription growth, driven largely by its wellness+ loyalty program. Photos from the tour can be seen on the following pages.
