PDX, Rx Net Services announce partnership

FORT WORTH, Texas (Aug. 30) Pharmacy technology provider PDX has inked a deal with a provider of prescription drug inventory management technology to develop and co-market an integrated offering.

PDX's partnership with Rx Net Services will allow users of both the PDX Pharmacy System and the new Enterprise Pharmacy System to integrate the Rx Net Services platform for managing problematic drug inventory with its PDX pharmacy technology platform, PDX said. The integration of Rx Net Services with the PDX pharmacy systems likely will be complete and available to customers first quarter 2011.

"Inventory management is a very significant issue for pharmacies. By partnering with Rx Net Services, PDX customers will have access to cutting-edge utilities that will reduce and better manage a very costly portion of prescription drug inventories," said Jeff Farris, president and CEO of PDX-Rx.com. "We remain focused on delivering solutions and services our pharmacy partners require to remain competitive. We are committed to providing them with innovative technologies — such as those offered by Rx Net Services — that enable them to manage their pharmacy business effectively and profitably."

New mobile application keeps pharmacy customers in touch

FORT WORTH, Texas (Aug. 18) Pharmacy technology company PDX and mobile application maker Acclaim Telecom Services will integrate Acclaim’s Smart Mobile RX application with PDX pharmacy systems.

The integration will allow pharmacies to reach patients through text messages, emails and voice reminders regarding refills and other services. The product will be shown at the National Association of Chain Drug Stores’ Pharmacy and Technology Conference in San Diego later this month.

“By partnering with PDX, Acclaim’s Smart Mobile RX can be rapidly deployed by pharmacies across the spectrum of mobile phones in use by consumers,” Acclaim president James Davis said in a statement. “Pharmacy smart phone customers have the added benefit of downloading a branded mobile application from their respective phone providers’ application store.”

Freedom Data develops point-of-sale system for small pharmacies

GRANBURY, Texas (Aug. 16) A company that develops pharmacy automation products has released a point-of-sale system specifically tailored to small retail pharmacies.

Freedom Data announced Monday the release of PRO/POS-Lite, a condensed version of its existing PRO/POS system. Freedom Data said the newer version provided the functionality that smaller pharmacies needed at a fraction of the cost of the full system.

The system allows the pharmacy to process flex benefit cards, track products and deliveries, electronically capture signatures and receive updates to comply with government regulations, as well as expandability to the full PRO/POS system.
