CARRIGTWOHILL, Ireland The Irish government is now being blamed after the biotech company Amgen decided to not build a new facility in Carrigtwohill, which was valued at $1,412,700,000 and would have required 1,100 jobs, according to the Irish Post.
The company has been quieting rumors about the new facility since April, when it announced a two-year delay in building the site. Also, two of Amgen’s drugs, Epogen and Aranesp have come under target by Medicare, who is questioning the dosing requirements for the drugs.
79 employees will lose their job by December as a result of this move. The facility was originally planned to open in 2012.
