Vitamin Shoppe named Walgreens Boots Alliance's former chief information officer to its board of directors, The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday. "Tim Theriault, who stepped down from Walgreens Boots in June 2015 after six years as the pharmacy retailer's technology chief, joined Vitamin Shoppe's board March 8 and is a member of the audit committee," The Journal reported. Theriault's appointment "is the result of our ongoing efforts to ensure that our board has the right mix of skills and experience necessary to advance our long-term goals," non-executive board chariman Richard Markee said in a statement. Walgreens-partner Providence Health and Services plans to merge with St. Joseph Health, the Puget Sound Business Journal reported Friday. "Providence will then become the third-largest non-profit health system in the U.S., behind only Kaiser Permanente and Ascension Health, the Journal reported. "Providence's system includes 34 hospitals, but will grow to 50 with the merger." (Puget Sound Business Journal)
