Unconfirmed media reports indicate Target is in the early stages of developing its own mobile payment solution. If true, Target would join other major retailers like Walmart and Starbucks in making mobile payment a proprietary proposition.
The end of Target Pharmacy Rewards is one of the first steps the company has taken to prepare for changes coming to its stores as a result of selling its pharmacy business to CVS Health earlier this year.
Target is back to its old marketing tricks in New York City this holiday season with a 16,000-sq.-ft. omnichannel "spectacle” opening Dec. 9 next to Chelsea Market. According to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, the holiday pop-up store "is filled with 10 holiday-themed displays that incorporate a digital element on top of an interactive physical experience.
