The New York Post late Tuesday reported Kroger may be close to passing on acquiring some 650 stores that Walgreens and Rite Aid would have to sell to gain regulatory approval of their $17 billion merger, placing the deal in jeopardy. “The FTC is trying to preserve the stand-alone stores,” a source told The Post. “But Kroger might want to integrate.
