Kroger's investment into real-world omnichannel solutions is transforming the grocery shopping experience, Business Insider reported Sunday. For example, since 2012 Kroger's use of QueVision to scale up and down the number of cashiers on hand has reduced average check out time across the retailer from 4 minutes to 30 seconds. "QueVision is just the beginning of futuristic tech at the company," Business Insider reported. "In an industry that is swiftly turning its attention to ecommerce, Kroger has spent the last few years investing in companies with key insights and experience in the online grocery business." A Kroger in Columbus, Ohio is taking refugees who fled ethnic cleansing in Bhutan on a classroom tour of the pharmacy, educating them on the healthcare products and information available to them, according to a report Wednesday from PRI. Helen Kim, a pharmacy fellow at Ohio State who helped start the program and herself an immigrant to the U.S., can relate. "We as immigrants, or somebody who is newly resettled, just do not know how to navigate [the pharmacy]," she said. (PRI)

The Cincinnati Business Courier, reporting on a recent Kroger investor call, highlighted the fact that Kroger’s natural and organic food sales bring in more than $11 billion a year, a trend fueled in part by its Simple Truth product line, which has seen double-digit growth every year since its launch. “We’re delivering on millennials’ needs,”  Stuart Aitken, Kroger’s 84.51 data analytics unit CEO said. Within the toothpaste category, Colgate Total and Crest 3D White were the two brands from their respective manufacturers that displayed the highest sales, and they both displayed higher units sold on promotion (28%).

Kroger has announced that it had added transgender health benefits to one of the company’s health insurance plans, according to Forbes. "Beginning January 1, 2016, medical procedures including surgery and drug therapy for gender reassignment will be covered up to a $100,000 lifetime maximum for eligible associates and their dependents,” the company wrote on their employee social network.
