With digital companies breathing down the necks of traditional merchants, and consumers collectively developing an acute case of attention deficient disorder spurred on by the likes of Amazon and others, now is the time for retailers to implement strategies that make their stores more and more interesting for consumers to shop.
All of the Woonsocket, R.I.-based company’s Manhattan locations started offering delivery service this week, which CVS Pharmacy said includes prescriptions and OTC products delivered in tamper-proof packaging.
Larry Merlo, president and CEO of CVS Health, said that its acquisition of the Hartford, Conn.-based insurer would create a new way for patients to access care — and plays to areas in which both companies were looking to bolster their positions.
CVS Caremark will offer visibility of costs and lower-cost alternatives at point of prescribing and at the pharmacy in an effort to cut down on dispensing delays and improve patient outcomes, the Woonsocket, R.I.-based company said.
Since it first began a registered apprenticeship program for pharmacy technicians in 2005, CVS Health said it has seen more than 4,700 people join in the retail pharmacy, prescription benefit management and retail store management tracks.
