USA Today is highlighting the results of a study conducted in 2015 by the New York City Dept. of Consumer Affairs, which found that when it comes to personal care, products marketed to women cost 13% more than those marketed to men — a trend referred to as the “Pink Tax.” Among reasons given for the prices differences is that, “Companies are willing to spend more money advertising to women than they are toward men, contributing to the price discrepancies,” Ted Potrikus, CEO of the Retail Council of New York State, told USA Today.
