The legislation enables seniors in medically underserved communities to access those pharmacists’ patient care services which are allowed by state scope of practice laws through Medicare Part B coverage.
The distinction recognizes CVS/specialty's commitment to helping people with arthritis and joint pain, and builds on the longstanding relationship between the two organizations. CVS/pharmacy is currently the exclusive retail drug store partner of the Arthritis Foundation.
The New York Times outlines the controversy surrounding the recent FDA approval of Oxycontin in children. “Just because OxyContin has been abused or prescribed inappropriately doesn’t mean we should deprive the children who need the drug,” Kathleen Neville, pediatric oncologist at Arkansas Children's Hospital told The New York Times, adding it is “our obligation to have the best level of evidence for its use in children.” (The New York Times)
