NEW YORK — The Touro College and University System has appointed an interim dean for its school of pharmacy, the New York-based school said Thursday.
Touro announced the appointment of Zvi Loewy, professor and chairman of the Touro College of Pharmacy's Department of Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Sciences. Stuart Feldman stepped down as dean last week. Loewy's experience includes more than 30 years in academia, pharmaceutical companies and biotech start-up companies; he also is published widely and holds more than two dozen patents.
"I am pleased that Dr. Loewy has agreed to undertake this significant assignment at this time," Touro president and CEO Alan Kadish said. "With his experience in the biological sciences and pharmacy education, research and private industry, as well as his proven commitment to the school and its mission, the college is well-served to have Dr. Loewy take the lead at this time. I wish him every success as he collaborates with the campus provost and CEO, Dr. Jay Sexter, in carrying out this new assignment."
