MINNEAPOLIS — Walgreens may be opening a flagship location in downtown Minneapolis in 2015, according to a report in the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal reported Thursday. The location is at the Nicollet Mall location where Saks Off 5th is today, the Journal stated, citing several sources who declined to be named to protect client relationships.
Saks Off 5th told the Journal that it will close the downtown location when its lease expires in January 2015.
According to the report, Walgreens fields 164 stores in Minnesota. Walgreens currently operates 13 flagship stores, with a 14th slated to open this summer in Chicago's Wrigley Building.
