Publix makes move into two South Carolina markets — Myrtle Beach and Pawleys Island

LAKELAND, Fla. — Publix Super Markets on Thursday announced it will enter the North Myrtle Beach and Pawleys Island, S.C., markets with two stores.

The first lease is for North Myrtle Beach located in the Coastal North Town Center. The store will be a 49,000-sq.-ft. Publix supermarket and is expected to open in late 2014.

The second lease is for Pawleys Island in the Pawleys Island Plaza. The store, part of a redevelopment of an existing shopping center, will be a 45,000-sq.-ft. Publix supermarket and is expected to open in early 2015.

“On the heels of our continued expansion in North Carolina, we are excited to offer our associates growth opportunities and bring new jobs to the area,” stated Chuck Roskovich, Publix divisional VP. “We look forward to providing South Carolina residents and visitors alike with the high-quality service, products and active community involvement that Publix has become known for in our areas of operation and beyond.”

The grand opening dates for both locations will depend on several factors, including permitting and completion of the store's construction.
