ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The National Community Pharmacists Association on Tuesday named Washington veteran Steve Pfister as SVP government affairs to lead the association’s advocacy to federal and state policy-makers.
“NCPA’s calling card is effective advocacy on behalf of the tremendous service and value that independent community pharmacies provide to patients and health plan sponsors,” stated NCPA CEO Douglas Hoey. “Steve brings a wealth of experience and wisdom that will help take NCPA’s advocacy to the next level. He has successfully represented retail small businesses for years and that experience will translate effectively to his work here on behalf of community pharmacies.”
Pfister comes to NCPA from Total Spectrum, a public affairs firm where he served as partner. Previously, he was SVP government relations at the National Retail Federation for 12 years. He directed the federation’s legislative, regulatory, political and grassroots activities. Pfister also served as a member of the executive staff and was the primary legislative and political liaison to NRF’s board of directors.
Pfister also served as a Republican floor assistant in the U.S. House of Representatives for five years. He is a graduate of the State University of New York, in Plattsburgh, and is a native of upstate New York.
