PALM BEACH, Fla. The National Association of Chain Drug Stores has elected new officers, one new executive committee member and three new board of directors members during the 2010 NACDS Annual Meeting.
NACDS' new chairman of the board, CVS/pharmacy president Larry Merlo, will succeed Andrew Giancamilli. Merlo previously served as vice chairman. Additionally, Robert Loeffler, chief administrative officer of H-E-B, was elected as vice chairman, and Greg Wasson, Walgreens president and CEO was elected treasurer.
“I congratulate Larry Merlo on his election as NACDS chairman of the board,” said NACDS president and CEO Steve Anderson. “Larry’s passion for the value of pharmacy and for this entire industry will fuel NACDS’ continued advancement. He already has contributed so much to NACDS as an officer and as a member of the board of directors, and it will be great to work with him in this new capacity.”
In related news, NACDS members also elected a new executive committee member, Craig Painter, Kinney Drugs, CEO and board chairman, and three new board of directors members: John Agwunobi, president and SVP, health and wellness business unit of Walmart Stores; Christopher T. Dimos, president pharmacy operations of Supervalu; and Robert Narveson, president and CEO of Thrifty White Stores.
