WHITEHOUSE STATION, N.J. Richard Clark will continue as chairman and CEO of Merck, while the board of directors has elected current president of the drug maker’s global human health worldwide sales and marketing division Kenneth Frazier as company president, Merck announced Thursday.
As president, Frazier will lead Merck’s three largest worldwide divisions responsible for harmaceutical and vaccine sales and marketing, research and development, manufacturing and supply. Adam Schechter, head of the company’s U.S. pharmaceutical business, will replace Frazier in his current position.
“Ken is a proven leader with deep knowledge about our company and the industry who has real passion for Merck’s role in saving and improving lives through scientific innovation,” Clark said. “Merck’s board and I have the utmost confidence in Ken’s ability to help navigate Merck during a time of unprecedented change and enormous opportunity in the global healthcare industry.”
