CHICAGO Medela on Tuesday announced the award of accreditation status by the Accreditation Commission for Health Care, a private, not-for-profit corporation that certifies products for suppliers of home health medical equipment.

“Our mission for excellence, infused with our passion for serving patients, has Medela well positioned to provide its Invia Healing System to the negative pressure wound therapy market,” explained Christine Long, strategic accounts manager, Medela. “This important quality standard reflects the months of hard work Medela has committed to developing policy, training staff and conducting internal audits.”

“We already have competency in many of these standards, and the accreditation process is consistent with Medela’s experience in working in a highly-regulated environment,” stated Scott Baxter, vice president of operations, Medela. “This achievement highlights Medela’s long-standing commitment to providing quality products and services, and demonstrates our dedication to quality healthcare for patients, caregivers and payers.”

In order to participate in the Medicare Competitive Bidding, organizations must be deemed an accredited body by an approved organization, such as ACHC, Medela stated.
