CHICAGO Jewel-Osco will relocate its Melrose Park, Ill., headquarters to Itasca, Ill., this summer company president Keith Nielsen said Monday, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
The company will relocate 400 employees, but keep its 1,500-employee distribution center at the Melrose Park location.
Nielsen said that the Itasca site is in a better geographic location for Jewel-Osco’s operations, and the existing headquarters had become outdated. Jewel-Osco operates 33 stores in the city of Chicago and 156 in the greater Chicago area, in downstate Illinois and in Indiana and Iowa.
The new headquarters also includes wireless Internet access, a small fitness center and areas for employees to walk outside, the Sun-Times reported.
