STAMFORD, Conn. A major manufacturer of prescription painkillers often targeted by drug addicts is giving free ceiling mobiles to members of a network of independent pharmacies as part of an effort to combat pharmacy crime.

Purdue Pharma said Monday it would give the mobiles and the RxPatrol Pharmacy Safety and Security video to the 3,600 members of Good Neighbor Pharmacy, a network operated by AmerisourceBergen. Purdue mailed the mobiles and videos to GNP members in June. RxPatrol is a national database that keeps track of pharmacy crime and provides it to law enforcement and pharmacies.

The mobile features a message designed to ensure the safety and security of pharmacy staff and patients from criminal activity, and to emphasize the importance of keeping medications safe.

“Good Neighbor Pharmacy welcomes the collaboration with Purdue’s RxPatrol program to protect pharmacies and their customers,” AmerisourceBergen SVP retail sales and marketing Jerry Cline said. “By displaying the mobile and training their staff with the video, pharmacists can help ensure that safety is a priority.”
