Giant-Landover kicks off 25th year of school-benefits program

A+ School Rewards has raised more than $88 million since 1989

LANDOVER, Md. — Giant Food of Landover, Md., is bringing back a rewards program for schools for the 25th year, the supermarket chain said Thursday.

Giant-Landover announced the the start of its annual A+ School Rewards fundraiser, which allows customers to sign up and designate up to two schools. Rewards accrue with each purchase using a Giant card starting on Oct. 4 and lasting through March 20. Last year, one school received more than $26,700, and the program has raised more than $88 million since 1989; money raised can be used for technology, scholarships, school programs, field trips, playgrounds and other needs.

"In its 25th year, A+ School Rewards continues to be Giant's flagship educational program," Giant president Anthony Hucker said. "Hundreds of thousands of students and educators across Maryland, Virginia, Washington, D.C., and Delaware have been able to benefit from this tremendous rewards initiative. Giant is proud to stand by our commitment to support and nurture the communities that make us the nation's capital grocer."
